I have not updated in a while! Since I was working on report cards and you have been working on the biography project, I kept forgetting to post.
We finished Fundations Unit 4 and are almost finished with unit 5 and schwa with two syllable words.
We've been working on several writing pieces: Superpowers, Dream for the World, Valuable Possession and Stories
We finished our Mystery Unit
Learned Author's Purpose: Inform, Entertain or Persuade
Fractions: parts of a whole, greater then 1, locate on a number line and comparing fractions

Wow it was a long week with conferences and the election, but we still accomplished a lot! We are almost finished with our second unit in Fundations and cursive letters. We've been looking at patterns in multiplication, finishing Thankful essays and we have started brainstorming for our own nonfiction writing!

Wow! We had a busy day today! Well, I accidentally assigned the wrong math test online and many kids started to panic, so then, I noticed my mistake and quickly got the new test assigned. Students were much happier and did pretty well overall. We are learning about temperature and where in the US the best snow fort festival should be held. We are also just about finished writing our first Expository Essay! We are starting to be very productive third graders!

We had a great half day yesterday where we learned about the bones in our had and made some seasonal scientific hand x-rays!
Today we started our very first expository essay, talked about suffixes, talked about multiplication with 1 and 0 and we had Mrs. Conly as our Mystery Reader! Such fun!

Everyone came back refreshed from their long weekend! Today we learned cursive q, worked on our predictions, wrote small moment pieces, talking about clouds and how to predict if a storm is heading toward us and reviewed many math concepts from Unit 1 which we will be finishing soon. Remember tomorrow is an early release day 10/16

Today we took timed multiplication and division tests always trying to get just one more fact correct each week, talked about homework expectations and finished our storm spotter guides. Enjoy the long weekend!

Wow! It's been a bit since I updated! We have been busy with the Fun Run, learning how learning about weather, the water cycle, making water cycle bags, trying to understand the distributive property and take our first Fundatations Test! We've been busy!

We had our Friday routine day where we start the day dancing with our 1-2-3-4 greeting, practiced 2, 5, 10 facts, corrected Daily Geography, worked on small moment writing, and started our 9's table. Daily Geography is due next week but there will be no other homework assigned in leu of Rosh Hashanah.

Happy Thursday! Today we wrote the fourth stanza and started rough drafts of our Where I'm From Poems and started zeroing in on our small moment stories. We also practiced 10's and applied our knowledge to word problems and learned about variables today! We also cleaned for Open House and started presentinour Facts About Me Slides. Don't forget.....Tonight is Open House Night from 7-8!

We are starting our Where I'm From Poems, finishing Slideshows, working Massachusetts maps and talking about reading strategies.

Yay! It's Friday! We did a lot today! We did our fun Friday 1,2,3,4! Greeting with some crazy dance moves, corrected our first Daily Geography, took a baseline multiplication and division test, solved division word problems and finished our first science investigation about making observations and asking questions. HappyThursday! I've been trying to post each day but some days have sipped by. Some highlights were of today were that we finished a short answer reading assessment, started ME Webs, and finished Star Math assessments.

Happy Monday! We assigned classroom jobs, learned how to choose Good Fit Books, started a narrative writing baseline assessment and had our first math lesson learning our 5 Count bys. I know it's going to be a great week!

Day 2 was equally successful! This class is great! We started cursive, talked about a great book One by Kathryn Otoshi, took part of a math inventory and learned why schools were invented! What a day! I hope everyone has a relaxing and restful weekend!

Yay! We had an excellent first day! Students are starting to learn routines and procedures. We got to know a little bit about our classmates and explored our classroom. We even had a pretend snowball fight in class! We wrote in assignment notebooks and got our first homework assignment in third grade. I know it's going to be a great year!
